Ghanaian students studying in Morocco have lauded the Kingdom of Morocco for showing leadership in terms of development.
They said the Kingdom has demonstrated beyond every reasonable doubt that African countries who are very determined can match developed countries in any form in terms of development.
Speaking in separate interviews at their base in Rabat in the Kingdom of Morocco, the students urged other African leaders to show same commitment in providing infrastructure for speedy development of their respective countries.
25-year-old Fianu Alvin, who is currently studying pharmacy, for instance, lauded the Kingdom for demonstrating sterling commitment in rolling out infrastructural projects to enhance development in the country.
He said, although he is in his 6th year as a student studying in Morocco, he has never witnessed any power outage or water shortage.
“Here, development is constant. The authorities are always working and providing infrastructure development to position the country. Even the environment is constantly going through changes with trees, green grass and flowers being planted everywhere to consciously keep the beautification of the city at the heart of everything”.
He explained that Ghana and other African countries struggling with development should not miss the opportunity of learning best practices from the Kingdom in order to apply policies and programs required to spread development and make progress constant.
“Our leaders only need to make good use of the bilateral relationship we have with the Kingdom to exemplify what they have achieved in Ghana. We should stop focusing on countries that are only taking advantage of our weak systems and trade with other African countries where development is constant, so we learn best practices and also grow”.
On her part, Joana Deblui, 25, who is studying medicine, said the system in Morocco actually works for the benefit of all citizens.
She called on the government of Ghana to emulate the shining example in terms of development and replicate exactly what is happening in the Kingdom of Morocco.
“I think that our leaders can do it. They just have to learn to allow the system to work to perfection and everything would fall in line. We have failed to police our system, and that is the challenge facing our country.”
“Instead of sacrificing the system to please people, here in Morocco, the authorities would sacrifice you to allow the system to work if you flout any law or commit any infringement, but in Ghana, people get away with crime, and that would constantly embolden them to misbehave.”
“We cannot progress or develop if we continue to provide fertile grounds for our citizens to break our laws, stampede due process, and yet turn around to blame leaders. I think we are all part of the problem facing our country”.
