Day One: Recounting Trans-Atlantic slave trade through Assin Manso Slave River Site, Elmina Castle
Day one began in the Greater Accra Region and continued in the Central Region.
The first stop was at the Assin Manso Slave River Site, which used to serve as a final link in the slavery route from Northern Ghana.
In time past, the slave market was known as one of the largest slave market for merchants who supplied slaves through the forts and castles on the coast during the infamous Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
The ‘Caravanites’ toured the Ancestral Graveyard, Memorial Wall of Return, and ended at the Last Bath.
The Memorial Wall of Return is a wall on which Africans put their names, indicating that they have found their roots.
There is an epitaph that paid honour to certain well-known persons who were slaves.
The Last Bath is also known as the ‘Donkor Nsuo’ transliterated as ”the slave river” is a place where slaves took their last bath on African soil before they were led into the slave castles of Elmina and Cape Coast.
In the evening, the participants visited the Elmina Castle to watch the re-enactment of the slave trade, which ended with a bonfire called the Light of Hope.
Day Two – Patrons pay homage to Kwame Nkrumah at Nkroful
The Heritage Caravan on its second day paid homage to Ghana’s First President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, at the Kwame Nkrumah Museum in Nkroful.
The late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was buried in his hometown at Nkroful in the Western Region.
Oral tradition explains that Kwame Nkrumah asked to be buried at the same spot where he was born. This is the reason for his first burial in the Nkroful town.
The second day of Heritage Caravan ended with a feastful bonfire, local music and karaoke night at the Maaha Beach Resort.
Day Three: 12-hour journey ends with poolside dinner, night clubbing
The evening session was a dinner night with live band music at Golden Bean Hotel.

Day 7: Bonwire ‘Kente Town’, endless clubbing at Rock City Hotel
The Heritage Caravan made its last tour on Day 7 around the Bonwire Kente Market Store Complex, which is the heartbeat of Kente in Ghana.
Bonwire is located in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The Chief of the Bonwire Community, Nana Bobie Ansah II organised a kente durbar in honour of the Heritage Caravan where he shared the historical development of the community which is yet to be developed into a market store complex.
