The Northern Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party have rejected claims that the Yendi Constituency has two polling albums for its internal elections.
At a press conference held on March 20, 2022, the Yendi Constituency chairman, insisted that the constituency has two albums for their polls.
But in a rejoinder dated March 21, 2022, and signed by the Northern Regional Secretary, the regional executives stated emphatically that the Yendi constituency has only one album and has thus called on all to disregard what was put out yesterday as it is purported to cause chaos and disrupt the upcoming constituency elections.
“The attention of the Northern Regional Executive Committee of the NPP led by Chairman Samba has been drawn to the press conference organized by the Yendi constituency chairman which mentioned that the Yendi Constituency has two albums. The Regional Executive Committee by this release wants to place on record that the Yendi Constituency has only one Album, which was prepared by the Executive Committee.”
“It is therefore unconstitutional and malicious for the Yendi Constituency Chairman to put out false narrative concerning the Constituency Album purposely to bring chaos and to disrupt the election process.”
The circuit court in Yendi on March 19, 2022, refused an injunction application seeking to annul the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling stations elections in Yendi.
Some party members in the Yendi constituency went to court to seek an injunction on the polling stations elections, describing it as not transparent.
The leadership of the NPP in the constituency had said it would not be able to organise the Electoral Area Coordinators election following its inability to organise its polling station elections.
This follows chaos and violence which broke out on March 13, 2022, in the constituency.
