A member of the New Patriotic Party, Hajia Fathi Amadu, and some investors have presented some rechargeable motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service in Accra to aid in the fight against crime.
The two motorbikes, according to the NPP stalwart, are part of giving back to society.
Speaking to Citi News after presenting the items, aide to Hajia Fati, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah indicated that the choice of a motorbike is because the bikes are an easy and fast means of transport, hence that choice.
He again indicated that the rechargeable motorbikes will also reduce the over-dependence on fuel by the Police.
“What touched us to donate such bikes to the police is a result of the good work of the police led by the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. And we are committed to do more to support the police in other areas to fight crime.”
“The rechargeable motorbikes will also help save fuel since they only need to charge them for at least eight hours. And this can take you to Kumasi and back when fully charged,” Elvis Dapaah told Citi News.
“Our partner from Hong Kong Li Guan is impressed by the hard work of the IGP and is committed to do more to support the Police,” aide to Hajia Fathi added.
Receiving the rechargeable bikes on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Director of National Patrols, COP Paul Manly Awini says the motorbikes have come at the right time and will serve the purpose for which they were brought.
He indicated that a proper maintenance plan will be introduced to help the bikes work effectively.
“The bikes have come at a time when we need more bikes for patrols, and this will help us protect lives and properties. We are grateful to Hajia Fathi and Li Guan for the gesture.
“We will also draw out a proper maintenance plan to ensure the bikes work effectively,” COP Awini told Citi News.
