Constituency executives of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region have received with excitement the message from Stephen Asamoah Boateng popularly known as Asabee.

The former SIGA boss is currently touring constituencies in his home region ahead of the upcoming national chairmanship elections.

With open confessions and commitments from about 20 constituencies he has toured so far in the region, the reception appears to have been positive for him.

Starting his latest tour from his hometown of Konongo in the Ashanti Akyem enclave on Saturday and Sunday with massive endorsements from the constituency executives, he toured the Bekwai enclave on Monday morning meeting constituency executives from the enclave.

Some constituency executives were surprised that he was touring the area again, this time coming down Constituency-by-Constituency.

Speaking at these constituencies with a five (5) point plan, the former State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) Director-General said he was in the race for chairmanship to win and lead with a unified front.

“Did you contest to end up as opposition party executive”? Asabeee asked. To a loud response of “No”, Asabeee promised that like them, he is in to win the chairmanship position to re-energise the NPP to go out and beat the NDC emphatically in 2024 General Elections.

He promised to resource party members with logistics in a timely manner to be able to carry out their mandates and also plan effectively for party work.

“I will organise sponsors who believe in our government policies and have the goodwill to see us better manage the economy for the prosperity of Ghanaians”, Asabeee said.

He also intimated his desire to lead for amendments in the party’s constitution for specific duties to be assigned to elected and appointed executives such as Deputy Secretaries as well as other deputies in the main structure of the party, so that they function efficiently and effectively.

In his 4th point, he said he would commence a discussion with party leadership when he becomes Chairman so that they could implement what he has termed as agenda 60/40.

This agenda, Asabee explained would mean a discussion with the President on how to allocate at least some 40% of all appointments to the party at constituency and polling station levels. This will go a long way to bridge the gap between the government and the party.

Capping his message, he noted that the 2024 general elections will not be an easy task, but he remains desirous of leading the NPP to the battleground as a “War Time General” who has the capacity to beat the NDC to their “own game”.

He intends to build a strong party to strategize and accept anyone the party would present as flagbearer.

Some of the Chairmen who spoke during the visit said their constituency executives were committed to Asabeee because they see him as their own, and he has the energy and “No nonsense character” to face the NDC.

They also pledged their support to Asabeee, indicating that they would be voting en bloc on July 14 for the former SIGA boss.

Some Chairmen publicly endorsed the candidature of Asabeee, noting that the former Information Minister was the only one that was contesting as Chairman who had shown respect, humility, and seriousness to them by touring their areas at least two times.

They were appreciative of the show of respect and promised to reciprocate in kind by storming Accra to vote en bloc for Asabee at the National Elections on July 14, 2022.
