Old students of the St. Roses Senior High School (ROSA) have held its 2022 thanksgiving service in honour of St. Rose of Lima, the patron Saint of the school.
The celebration provided an opportunity for socialization and the coming together of all students to celebrate their alma mater.
Various years groups and the ROSA body used the opportunity to present projects and donations to the school.
In previous years, such donations have been highlights of speech and prize-giving day celebrations.
This year the 1982,1992, 2002 and 2012 year groups who celebrated 40, 30, 20 and 10 years respectively since completing their education in the esteemed institution, played key roles in organising and attending the thanksgiving service which was held in Akwatia.
The highlight of the celebration was the unveiling and commissioning of projects by the celebrating year groups.
The 1982-year group presented a model dining hall table to symbolically represent the giving of new dining hall tables to revamp the facilities of the students’ dining hall.
The 1992(94) year group renovated and refurbished an open-air uncompleted bathhouse facility at a cost of GH¢200,000.
The 2002-year group commissioned an elevated entrance for the school, whilst the 2012-year group also promised to undertake a development project to support the school.
The headmistress of the school, Marian Esi Jackson, was grateful for the assistance being provided by the old students.
“The support from old girls is very ideal and needed. As is done in many other schools, it’s a culture that must be imbibed by all. Through ROSA, the school and students have received tremendous support, especially in the refurbishment of its existing facilities.”
“This without any doubt is a key advantage to strengthening the education of the young ladies. She was therefore grateful once again to ROSA. The support and dedication to give to the school over the years remains deeply appreciated and recognized”, she said.
President of the 1992 and 94-year group Mrs. Sandra Opoku who handed over the bathhouse project to the school indicated that aside from that project, there are others in the pipeline to be done to appreciate to the school.
