We’ve not celebrated Sarkodie and Shatta Wale enough — Fresh Meddo

Us-based Sierra Leonean Afropop artist Fresh Meddo believes multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and multiple award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale have not been celebrated well over their international collaborations.

Sarkodie and Shatta Wale chalked an enviable feat in the music industry when they featured on American music Icon Beyonce and legendary Late Bob Marley songs respectively.

Shatta Wale featured on ‘Already’, a song on Beyoncé’s ‘Lion King: The Gift’ album, released in 2019 and produced by Guiltybeatz while Sarkodie featured on the late Bob Marley’s “Stir it Up” song which was released on Friday ,January 20, and was re-produced by popular producer, John Kwesi Dosunmu-Mensah better known as M.O.G Beatz.

Expressing his view on these collaborations, Fresh Meddo in an interview with Ghanaweekend.com stated that to him, the music industry has not celebrated the multiple award-winning rapper and the ‘Ayoo’ hitmaker well.

According to him, these collaborations are so big that it could have exposed a lot of musicians to the international market but Ghanaians swept them under the carpet.

He stressed that the pull-him-down behaviour of Ghanaians has been hurting the entertainment industry for far too long, and it has become a canker which is militating against the progress of the industry.

“So Sarkodie featured the late Bob Marley – a whole Bob Marley and look at what people are saying … Instead of praising him, you listen to radio or go on the internet then you see industry persons reviling the feature. The same thing applies to Shatta Wale; this guy featured on a whole Beyonce’s song, and we still have industry persons castigating him. Do you know what these collaborations can do for Ghana and even Africa? It’s sad,” Fresh Meddo said.

The Afropop artist is currently out with a single track dubbed ‘Better Day’. The track is off his debut album ‘The Journey’.

The song was engineered by Master Plan in Nigeria and the Video was directed by Eshima Videos in Australia.‘ Better Day’ is available on all digital streaming platforms.
