The Ministry of Health says it is working to address any barriers to access to dental care in the country.
According to the Ministry, one of the challenges confronting the fight against dental-related diseases is a lack of public awareness.
This came to light as Ghana joined the rest of the world to observe World Oral Health Day on Monday, March 20, 2023.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Director of External Health Cooperation at the Ministry of Health Hafiz Adams, Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu urged private stakeholders to help the country achieve the goal of good oral health.
“I am fully aware of the challenges we face in promoting oral healthcare in Ghana. We have made progress in recent years, but there is still much work to be done. We need to address the shortage of health facilities and personnel across the country as well as the low level of education on oral health in our communities.”
“I am pleased to announce that we are making strides in addressing these challenges. Our government has been working tirelessly to improve access to oral care. We cannot do that alone, we need the support of the private sector, civil society organizations, individuals and other collaborations to achieve our goals”, he added.
