Leading producer of bananas and pineapples, Golden Exotics Limited (GEL), has donated boxes of bananas to the Baptist School Complex and Home (BASCO) at Trotor near Suhum in the Eastern Region.
Golden Exotics joined the managers and staff of Citi TV/Citi FM to present the items which form part of Citi TV/Citi FM’s annual Easter celebrations.
The Citi FM Foundation also donated bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, cartons of milo, milk, boxes of bananas, bags of gari and maize, and tissue papers.
Officials of Golden Exotics said they hope the donation will help complement the school’s nutritional needs.
Receiving the donation on behalf of BASCO, the Director of the orphanage, Rev. Victor Ofori Amoah extended the appreciation of the orphanage to Golden Exotics and pleaded that the support will be continuous.
“We thank you very much and on behalf of the children in the house, we say thank you very much.”
Golden Exotics Limited is a leading producer of bananas and pineapples in Ghana with a track record of over 10 years. The company is both Global G.A.P and Fair Trade certified.
GEL runs two plantations which, together, cover a surface area of over 8,600 hectares.
One plantation is devoted to pineapples and harvests 10,000 tons per year while the other concentrates on banana production with an annual fresh production capacity of about 50,000 tons.
This year’s Citi TV/Citi FM Easter Orphan Project took place in three orphanages across the country.
More than 500 orphans at the Baptist School Complex Orphanage (BASCO) at Trotor (near Suhum), Tamale Children’s Home at Nyoni, Tamale, and the King Jesus Charity Home in Kumasi benefited from the gesture.
