In support of its advocacy for increased investment in public basic education, ActionAid Ghana commissioned three kindergarten schools in Montanaya, Yabreso, and Bepoayase communities.
Two of the schools were commissioned in Yabreso and Bepoayase in the Tain District of the Bono Region while the other was commissioned at the Montanaya R/C Kindergarten in the Nanumba South in the Northern Region.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony of the Bono commissioning, the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene commended ActionAid for its commitment towards access to education for children in rural communities.
The Country Director on his part said the girl-friendly facilities represent ActionAid Ghana’s unwavering commitment to empowering the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our society.
During the Montanaya commissioning, the country director for ActionAid, John Nkaw expressed the gratitude of ActionAid to all the stakeholders that made the building of the schools a reality which he intimated will help in the education of the girlchild.
“It gives me much honour and privilege to be standing before you today in this momentous beginning of the commissioning of the Montanaya School. It is the beginning of a remarkable journey toward making a real impact in the lives of young people in this very important community,” Mr. Nkaw said.
He also thanked the donors of the three projects.
“I humbly extend our profound gratitude and the gratitude of the Board of ActionAid Ghana and the donors that have made this project a reality today.”
On his part, the District Chief Executive for Nanumba South, Issifu Zakaria lauded ActionAid Ghana for the historic building and commissioning of the school which he said will complement government efforts in providing educational infrastructure in the district.
The commissioned schools come with classroom blocks, eating areas, and a resting place for the pupils. They also have toilets and urinal facilities, boreholes, and playgrounds.
