The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who serves as the life patron of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has allocated GH₵600,000 to the club’s newly-formed Interim Management Committee.
This financial support aims to bolster preparations for the forthcoming 2023/2024 betPawa Ghana Premier League season.
The decision to provide this funding comes in the wake of the committee’s appointment, which includes notable figures such as Kontomponiaferehene Nana Apinkra Awusi-Awua, a Chartered Accountant, as well as head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, former Black Stars boss James Kwesi Appiah, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi. Together, they have been tasked with ensuring that the club is well-prepared for the upcoming season.
This committee was established following the dissolution of the club’s Board due to their underwhelming performance in the previous season. The Porcupine Warriors had a challenging campaign last year and failed to defend their 2021/2022 Premier League title.
The primary focus of the committee is to build a competitive squad for the 2023/2024 Premier League campaign, with the aim of returning Kumasi Asante Kotoko to their winning ways.
