The 2020 parliamentary candidate for the United Progressive Party (UPP) in Awutu Senya East, Mohammed Issah Al-Marzuque, has expressed worry over the progress of development in the constituency.
This, he says, is a result of the excessive confidence reposed in the two main political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The 2020 UPP parliamentary candidate indicated that issues such as lack of jobs for the youth in the constituency, poor sanitation, and poor road networks are among some of the challenges that have characterised the reign of the two main political parties in the area.
“The people of Kasoa must wake up if they want to see massive development in Awuti Senya East. The National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party have done little to change the fortunes of the constituents.
The constituency has a Member of Parliament who doubles as a Cabinet Minister, but that is not impacted positively on the constituency.
Security is also a major problem in the constituency. The constituents are frustrated by the regular attacks and robberies by thugs from all corners. This could be associated with the high rate of unemployment faced by the youth in the constituency.”
“The National Democratic Congress on the other hand cannot boast of changing the lives of the constituents since they operate in the same manner as the New Patriotic Party,” Mr. Al-Marzuque added.
On issues of economic challenges, Mohammed Issah Al-Marzuque said complacency is what has led to the current state of general suffering in the country, adding that the Akufo Addo government has disappointed the ordinary Ghanaian looking back at some of the things they promised Ghanaians.
“At a point, the New Patriotic Party was the toast of everyone but it has ended in disappointments to all. The National Democratic Congress on the other hand has not also done enough to change the fortunes of the country and it is time Ghanaians give other parties like the United Progressive Party a chance to govern.
The former UPP parliamentary candidate also has plans of establishing an ultramodern ICT lab within the various communities of Kasoa to help engage the youth in Information Communication Technology.
