The former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue has been slapped with a GH¢500 fine over what the Human Rights Court says is his failure to take a decision on his case seeking to stop the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from investigating and prosecuting him.

Charles Bissue filed a writ at the High Court in Accra in June seeking to prevent the Office of the Special Prosecutor from prosecuting him.

OSP commenced investigations against Charles Bissue for his involvement in alleged corruption and corruption-related activities during his time as secretary for the IMCIM.

The OSP made the disclosure of the fine against Charles Bissue on its X handle.

The case against Charles Bissue has also been adjourned to November 15.

Below is the OSP’s X post.

Charles Bissue V OSP ( Civil case 2)

The Human Rights Court (1) has awarded a cost of 500 cedis against Charles Bissue due to his failure to make a decision regarding whether to proceed with the case or withdraw it.

Mr. Bissue is before the Human Rights Court seeking an injunction against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from investigating and prosecuting him. He insists that investigative journalist Anas Anas should also be investigated and prosecuted for allegedly offering him a bribe, as depicted in the undercover documentary titled ‘Galamsey Fraud Part 1.’

The case has been adjourned to 15 November 2023, to allow Mr. Bissue to formally withdraw his lawsuit.
