The Twellium Industrial Company Limited, producers of Verna bottled water and soft drinks, has dispelled claims of death in the Northern Region linked to its Jingo herbal drink.
Rumours were rife last week on social media, about a 13-year-old girl, Memunatu Razak, in the Northern Region, who allegedly lost her life to suspected food poisoning, with others left critically ill.
The incident was linked to the consumption of a ‘Jingo herbal drink.’
However, in a press statement, the management of Twellium Ghana Limited refuted the claim, entreating the public to ignore the rumours.
The firm described the publication as a “calculated attempt by unscrupulous and faceless individuals to occasion irreparable harm to the Jingo brand.”
The incident, according to the management, has been reported to the CID unit of the Ghana Police Service for investigation.
It assured the general public of its commitment to health and safety.
Meanwhile, the Public Affairs Unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital has also indicated that there is no child on admission at the hospital for consuming Jingo energy drink as reports indicate.
