General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Koduah Frimpong, says compelling reasons will lead the party to disqualify any of the parliamentary aspirants seeking to contest in the December 2nd primaries.
On Tuesday, the NPP began vetting parliamentary aspirants in constituencies where the party does not have representation, ahead of the scheduled primaries on December 2.
Justin Koduah, the General Secretary of the party, says the party will approve all the aspirants.
Justin Koduah intimated that the party will allow anyone to contest in its primaries after meeting the requirements stipulated in the Ghanaian constitution and that of the party’s constitution.
He added that such a move will improve democracy, the rule of law, and competition within the party.
“We understand the tenets of democracy, we understand the rule of law, we understand competition, and it is our wish that all those who have appeared before the committee will go through by satisfying the requirements in the national constitution and also in the New Patriotic Party’s constitution.”
