Wombmen Worldwide, a non-governmental organization dedicated to serving the interests of women, has indicated its resolve to empower women to succeed with little support from men.
The group believes women are generally seen as the weaker sex, thus the need to support them to succeed in whichever field of endeavour they find themselves.
According to Sika Arthur, an Ambassador for Wombmen Worldwide, the organization was founded some thirteen years ago by some US government officials to support the interests of women.
“We are here today because of Wombmen Worldwide, which is a community outreach program dedicated to women. As the African ambassador for the project, I am dedicated to ensuring that we give hope to women by supporting them financially to succeed. Women can apply for support, but they need to provide a proper business plan, prove that they have tried improving upon themselves, among others, to qualify for the support.”
Speaking to Citi News at the launch of the Fuelling Hope project, which is aimed at feeding over ten thousand women during the Christmas festivities, the Ambassador for the project, Sika Arthur, urged women to step forward and be supported.
“If you have a business, and you need support as a woman, feel free to do so. We are giving out small loans to women who will step forward,” Sika Arthur said.
She indicated that there are plans to bring on board women who have succeeded in their chosen field of business to share their stories with other women to serve as motivation.
“Even as a child, I have always championed the cause of women. I know as a woman it feels bad to ask for support from men, and most women are not comfortable with it because it comes with strings attached to it,” the African ambassador for Wombmen Worldwide said.
On the issue of the Fuelling Hope project, the group is hoping to feed over ten thousand women in December this year, adding that this is part of giving back to vulnerable women during the festivities.
“The Fuelling Hope project is an initiative to give out to women during the festivities. We are going to feed over ten thousand women during that period. The number seems impossible, but we are going to make it possible,” Sika Arthur said.
