Chiefs and people of Akyem Akroso in the Asene-Manso-Akroso District of the Eastern Region have honored the Eastern Regional Fire Service Commander, ACFO Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye, for her selfless leadership, dedication, and support in ensuring the establishment of a fire station for the people of Akroso.

Madam Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye, who took over the reins of the command in the Eastern Region as the first-ever female fire service commander of the region on April 22, 2021, has since overseen the establishment of the Nkawkaw Market Post station, Larteh Fire Station, and the Akroso fire station, with the Kwabeng and Adieso fire stations yet to be commissioned.

Through her resilience and inclusivity, a total of 424 fire volunteers have been trained across the region in 2023 to help deal with fire safety issues in the entire region.

Presenting a citation in her honor at the commissioning of the Akroso Fire Station, the Chief of Akroso, Nana Kwabena Ofori II, appreciated her efforts in making the dream of the community a reality.

“It has always been our dream to have our own fire station, so when my people informed me about it, we made all the necessary arrangements. With the help of some benevolent residents, we got this place and reached out to the fire commander, who carefully guided us and supported us throughout to make sure our dream came true. The people of Akroso will eternally be grateful to you, Madam Commander, for your support and everything; may God bless you.”

On her part, ACFO Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye, who was surprised by the event, expressed her appreciation to the people of Akroso and called on them to continue to assist personnel posted to man the station.

“I will say a big thank you to the Chief and the entire Akroso community, but my focus and the focus of the command are to reduce fire to the barest minimum. So they should support us and avail themselves when we need volunteers to train and help us with community engagements and education.”
