The Leadership of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has given one hundred percent support to John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.
According to the Association, under the 24-hour economy, commercial drivers will run day and night shifts, overwhelming them with passengers, since essential services will be in operation if the policy is implemented.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let us begin by saying that after extensive deliberations on the 24-hour policy as announced by John Dramani Mahama, with transport operators, including GPRTU, we now know that the policy is a game-changer and would help turn Ghana’s economy. Thus, we choose to state categorically that we give the policy our one hundred percent support.”
The driver union warned political parties to desist from discrediting the policy, adding that the country needs this policy to turn around the economy.
The Deputy secretary of the Association, Asonaba Nana Wiredu, in an interview, indicated that the policy will employ the majority of Ghanaian youth.
“Ghana needs a turnaround to help our economy, and it’s the 24-hour economy that could do the magic for us. If Abosokai is operating in the night, DVLA is working in the night, if our mechanics are operating in the night, fuel stations, and vulcanizing are all working in the night, can you imagine the number of people who will be employed, plus the comfortability it would bring to us drivers?”
He, therefore, urges all Ghanaians to embrace this policy.
