The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has unveiled an initiative to install additional distribution transformers in communities within its operational areas.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 11, 2024, the company revealed that 630 distribution transformers have been identified as operating at full capacity due to heightened demand.
Recognizing the potential risks associated with overloaded transformers, such as blown fuses and broken conductors, ECG emphasized the likelihood of outages, especially during the peak load period from 7 pm to 11 pm in the affected areas.
As a result, transformer upgrading and new projects are currently underway to alleviate the strain on the overloaded transformers and ensure a more dependable power supply.
Customers residing in the communities and localities where the overloaded transformers have been identified are advised to report any localized outages or voltage fluctuations to the ECG.
Additionally, customers can reach out to the Electricity Company of Ghana on social media platforms for prompt assistance and resolution of any issues.
ECG is urging customers for cooperation as they continue to enhance their power distribution system.
