Ophelia Mensah Hayford, the Minister-designate for the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, has expressed her commitment to working with the Ministry of Education to establish more schools with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
She emphasized the importance of securing additional funding through this partnership to facilitate the construction of more STEM schools.
Ophelia Hayford lauded Ghana’s progress in integrating advanced technology into its educational system.
During her appearance before Parliament’s Appointment Committee on March 5, 2024, she stated, “With the introduction of Artificial Intelligence and technology, I think Ghana we are doing well with the introduction of STEM schools.
“I will do more to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to ensure that we get enough funds to build more STEM schools to improve on our technology and come out with innovations and inventions to curb some of these issues within our environment.”
The government is keen on investing in STEM education as part of its strategy to develop a larger pool of professionals capable of contributing to the country’s development.
Numerous stakeholders have joined forces with the government to equip the younger generation for future challenges and opportunities.
