The Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr John Kwakye, has criticized President Akufo-Addo for his claims about executing numerous projects under his administration.
During his recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), the President stated that his government has implemented numerous projects.
However, at a press briefing on Tuesday, April 3, 2024, Dr Kwakye contended that the President’s declarations do not align with the actual situation.
“The President recounted what he described as “numerous projects” undertaken by his Government, especially infrastructure projects, describing many of them as “unprecedented.” Here, we know that pronouncements could differ from the reality on the ground. Also, it is not always easy to differentiate continued projects from new ones.”
Dr Kwakye also raised questions about the availability of the “Project Performance Tracker” that the President had promised.
“To help resolve these contentions, the President promised to make available a “Project Performance Tracker” in March. As of today, 3rd April, we are not sure whether the Tracker has been released or not,” he stated.
