Voting is underway in the Ejisu Constituency as New Patriotic Party delegates vote in the Parliamentary primary to choose a replacement for the late Member of Parliament for the area, John Ampontuah Kumah.
The process has, however, been marred with allegations of vote buying, double voting and some delegates attempting to take screenshots of their cast ballots.
Police and Electoral Commission officers had to repeatedly intervene to ensure order as some aspirants and their agents raised concerns about how some delegates were flouting voting rules.
Director of Elections of the NPP, Evans Nimako said the party’s leadership is on grounds to address issues that may come up.
The party said it is not threatened by a decision by a former Member of Parliament for Ejisu to contest as an Independent Candidate in the upcoming by-election.
Kwabena Owusu Aduomi has publicly stated his intentions to contest as an independent candidate following grievances he alleged the party has not paid attention to.
However, speaking during the NPP’s Parliamentary primary in the Constituency, the party’s Director of Elections, insisted that the NPP will win in the upcoming by-election.
