Security analyst, Adib Sani has attributed the recent killing of a military man in Gomoa East to what he describes as the slow pace of justice delivery in land litigation cases.
According to him, the population explosion, coupled with the increasing influx of immigrants to the area, has led to a breakdown of law and order, making the recent shooting unsurprising.
He further called on the police and various stakeholders to collaborate in intensifying security measures in Kasoa to address the growing population in the area.
“For years on end, there has been a consistent pattern of such killings and shootouts, and in some cases, certain acts of lawlessness that go without anybody being held to account. And this is coupled with the fact that Kasoa has changed over the years. I mean, there’s been a population explosion, mostly made up of individuals from all across the country seeking to enhance their livelihoods and also has quite a sizable immigrant community.
“And another thing is justice delivery. A case can last in court over a term of 20 years. Gradually, Ghanaians are losing faith in state institutions’ capacity to grant them the justice they deserve.”
Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Danso Michael was reportedly killed amid a dispute over land ownership.
According to a police statement, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, allegedly shot the soldier at Millennium City on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, around 4:20 pm.
