The Sunyani Technical University (STU) is set to host the 3rd Biennial Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities in Ghana (ARCTUG 2024). This conference, scheduled to take place from May 28 to June 1, 2024, will gather researchers from academia and industry across Ghana, Africa, and the international community.
According to a release signed by Dickson Kyere-Duah, Secretary for ARCTUG 2024, the event will be held under the auspices of the Vice-Chancellors of the Technical Universities of Ghana. The conference aims to highlight the role of research in driving social and economic growth through innovation and creativity.
The Technical Universities of Ghana, mandated to provide competency-based training through Technical, Vocational, and Educational Training (TVET), have significantly contributed to various debates and knowledge creation by conducting cutting-edge research and fostering innovation through ARCTUG.
Researchers from all ten Technical Universities in Ghana will present papers on the theme, “University, Industry, and Government Partnership for Accelerating Innovation and Entrepreneurship for National Development”.
The conference will explore sub-themes such as “Innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths for National Development”, “Innovation in Applied Linguistics for National Development”, “Innovation in Applied Arts, Built, and Natural Environment for Sustainability”, and “Innovation in Business, Management, Social Sciences, and Entrepreneurship”. Other areas include “Tourism, Hospitality, and Creative Arts for National Development”, “Innovation in TVET for National Development”, “Innovation in Energy Management and Climate Change for Sustainable Development”, and “Commercialization of Innovations from Universities for Wealth and Job Creation”.
Notable speakers expected at the conference include President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, and Emmanuel Sackey, International Consultant and IP Expert.
The event will feature plenary discussions, paper presentations, an exhibition, a closing ceremony, an awards and dinner night, and a tour of some tourist sites in the Bono Region. The release encourages stakeholders in research, especially from education and industry, to participate and submit their papers and innovations for presentation and exhibition.
The Technical Universities in Ghana include Accra, Bolgatanga, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Ho, Sunyani, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, and Wa Technical Universities.
