The 2024 West African Mining and Power Conference and Exhibition (WAMPOC/WAMPEX) is slated for June 5-7, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

To be held under the theme, “The Mining and Power Hub: Driving Sustainable Investment Opportunities in West Africa,” the event will highlight the critical role of the mining and power sectors in fostering sustainable economic development and investment in the region.

The conference will feature over 1,500 industry leaders, investors, government officials, and stakeholders worldwide.

More than 200 exhibitors will also present the latest advancements in mining and power technologies, products, and services.

This year’s conference will be honored by the presence of H.R.M. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, as the Special Guest of Honour, with the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor, playing a significant role.

Additionally, ECOWAS Ministers from Nigeria, Liberia, Mali, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Burkina Faso, and Togo, along with several Ambassadors in Ghana, will participate.

Renowned industry experts and thought leaders will engage in various panel discussions and presentations, covering key topics such as critical minerals development, regional mining and power market collaborations, exploration investments, diversity and equity, sustainable mining practices, renewable energy integration, and investment opportunities.

“WAMPOC/WAMPEX 2024 is not just an exhibition; it is a strategic forum that brings together key players to address the challenges and opportunities in the mining and power sectors. It is an opportunity for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and develop actionable strategies for sustainable growth. This event also serves as a vital platform for networking, facilitating partnerships that can lead to significant economic benefits for the West African region,” says Dr. Sulemanu Koney, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.

The conference aims to highlight and explore sustainable investment opportunities within the mining and power sectors in West Africa, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among industry stakeholders, fostering innovation, and best practices.

The exhibition is expected to strengthen regional and international partnerships, driving growth and development in the mining and power industries and showcasing the latest technological advancements and innovations transforming these sectors.

Dr. Koney added, “We encourage all stakeholders, including industry professionals, investors, policymakers, and members of the media, to participate actively in WAMPOC/WAMPEX 2024. Your involvement is crucial in driving the sustainable development agenda forward and ensuring that West Africa remains a competitive and attractive destination for mining and power investments.”

Headline sponsors for the event include Mac Partners and Gold Fields Ghana Limited, with additional sponsorship from Newmont Africa, AngloGold Ashanti, Stanbic Bank Ghana, B5 Plus, Cummins, and FLSmidth.
