Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to investigate and reclaim lands that have been unlawfully acquired by members of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government.
Wading into the sale of 60 percent shares in four hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Rock City Hotel, a company owned by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, the former president accused the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government of disposing off state lands to its appointees and cronies.
Mahama took to X, formerly Twitter and voiced that “The Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government is disposing off state lands and properties at an unprecedented rate. When elected, my administration will prioritise the investigation and re-possession of these lands.”

In similar opposition to the sale of the hotels, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, organised a protest dubbed ‘Hands Off Our Hotels’ to demand that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo halt the ongoing transaction to offload the hotels.
Ablakwa described the transaction as a state capture carried out by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.
He later disclosed that a second part of the protest will be held in the Central Region in the coming days.
