Member of Parliament for Madina Francis Xavier Sosu has been commended for his work in human rights advocacy by 3 internationally acclaimed institutions.
In May 2024, Francis Xavier Sosu was honored as the Outstanding Political Personality in Ghana by the National Golden Excellence Awards Team. The award highlighted his impactful contributions to policy-making and social justice, extending beyond the borders of the Madina Constituency to influence the nation at large.
In June 2024 he was also named as the Most Outstanding African Parliamentarian in Human Rights and Advocacy. This recognition underscored his significant role in legislative efforts aimed at upholding human dignity and equality across Africa.
The Madina legislator is also expected to receive the US Presidential Voluntary Service Award in November 2024.
He was nominated by the Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute of Leadership Studies and approved by the White House on Juneteenth, this award celebrates Sosu’s global impact in promoting volunteerism and community service.
Francis Xavier Sosu’s has been commended for his dedication to human rights and social justice, both within Ghana and internationally.

In Parliament, Sosu has introduced seventeen Private Member’s Bills, with three already passed and one receiving Presidential Assent to abolish the death penalty under the Criminal Offences Amendment Act.
He has also been instrumental in criminalizing witchcraft accusations to protect vulnerable aged women and has championed legislation on various social issues, including maternity leave extension, paternity leave introduction, tax removal on menstrual hygiene products, clean air and climate change bills, and community sentencing.
As a member of Parliament, Francis Xavier Sosu instituted the Madina Job Center and has impacted over 7,000 individuals through job opportunities, apprenticeship and vocational training, and agribusiness training.
His educational initiatives have provided mechanized boreholes for over 35,000 pupils and book supplies to improve literacy. His health outreaches over the past three years have benefited more than 10,000 constituents.
