Former Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Kojo Asemanyi has expressed disappointment at the state of the constituency after he lost the seat to incumbent NDC MP Desmond Degraft Paitoo.
The Aspiring MP says his second coming will see the Gomoa East constituency which is the largest in terms of population in the Region achieve a Municipal status to help push the development agenda
He lost the 2020 Parliamentary seat to incumbent MP Desmond Degraft Paitoo of the National Democratic Congress with 35,873 votes making up 48.4 % of the total votes cast while the incumbent garnered 36,637 votes making up 49.5%.
The other candidates Samuel Kofi Essel of the Ghana Union Movement and Emmanuel Otchere of the UPP received 1,397 votes and 173 votes making up 1.89% and 0.23% of the total votes cast.
Despite losing the seat to Desmond Paitoo the New Patriotic Party candidate has expressed disappointment at the state of development within the constituency since he left office.
He blamed Degraft Paitoo for not continuing from where he left off in terms of infrastructure development, roads, and school projects among others.
The Gomoa Nyanyano stretch which has come under criticism in recent times over its bad nature is his prime focus according to Kojo Asemanyi.
But he believes this cannot be possible if the constituency which is the largest in the region is not upgraded to a Municipal status to help in other developmental agendas.
One of the major challenges that cost him his seat was issued with some party faithful who later voted skirt and blouse but Kojo Asemanyi says the issues that caused him his seat in the 2020 elections have been resolved hence his strong conviction of taking back the Gomoa East seat from the NDC’s Desmond Degraft Paitoo.
