Traditional leaders at Kwahu Pepease in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region have appealed to the Inspector General of Police, National Security Minister, the Eastern Regional Security Council and President Akufo Addo to immediately halt a planned enstoolment of a rival chief for Kwahu Pepease.
According to the Kingmaker, any attempt to install a new Chief by the Santase Royal family while the substantive chief has not been destooled by Kwahumanhene will result in a possible blood bath.
Tensions are currently high in the area following the alleged court conviction of Kwahu Pepeasehene Nana Bonsu Ayiripe Ababio who doubles as Kwahu Kyidomhene.
Addressing a press in Kwahu Pepease on the disturbing issue today the leader of the aggrieved Kingmakers and Banmuhene of Pepease Nana Ofori Sasu II who called on security agencies to immediately intervene gave strong indications that the group will do everything to protect the palace and prevent access to any group.
“As kingmakers we have not given our approval to the intended enstoolment by the Santase royal family, the court nor the Kwahu Traditional Council has not given us any notice of the destoolment of our substantive Chief we want to state emphatically that we are against the upcoming process and we therefore want to call on the Inspector General of Police, the President and all security agencies to immediately intervene.
We have a substantive Chief in the person of Nana Bonsu Ayiripe Ababio who has not been destooled so we won’t sit unconcerned for people to smuggle someone else onto the throne because there may be a possible blood bath in the process that is why we are petitioning the police, ministry of interior and chieftaincy to immediately intervene”.
