Mussa Dankwa, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has advised th New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to strategically deploy his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, for campaigning.
This comes after a recent poll showed a significant decline in voter support for the party in its strongholds following Dr Opoku Prempeh’s nomination.
According to the poll, 42% of NPP voters rejected voting for the party due to NAPO’s nomination, while 49% remain committed in the Greater Accra Region.
In the Greater Accra Region, support for the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government dropped from 59% in 2020 to 41% in 2024, while John Mahama’s support increased from 40% to 56%.
In the Ashanti Region, a stronghold for NPP, support for the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government decreased from 84% to 73%, while John Mahama’s support remained stable.
Mussa Dankwa, speaking on Channel One TV’s ‘Citiuation Room, urged Dr Bawumia to strategically deploy NAPO in regions where his presence would be beneficial and limit his presence in areas like Greater Accra, Central, and Western Region, where his nomination may have a negative impact.
“From this data, DMB must fully understand which regions to deploy NAPO and which regions not to deploy him to. And if he deploys him too, he should be the strategy.
“I won’t say no-go areas but you have to weigh the risk and the counterbalance with some measures that you put in place, Greater Accra is one of them. They should limit his presence in the Greater Accra, same for Central, and Western Region.”
