The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has challenged the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to a debate in two weeks at the British Council.
This follows comments by Dr Prempeh during his unveiling in Kumasi that no President in Ghana’s history, including former President Dr Kwame Nkrumah, had performed better than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Addressing journalists, the Director of Communication for the CPP, Sylvester Sarpong Soprano asserted that a debate in two weeks was a great avenue to explain what achievements the current president has.
He added that the CPP is ready to meet the NPP’s running mate at any venue, including his bedroom if he deems it comfortable for him.
“The communications team of the Convention People’s Party led by me is challenging Mathew Opoku Prempeh to a debate on the record of President Akufo-Addo versus the record of Dr Kwame Nkrumah at the British Council Hall in Accra in two weeks from today.”
“And if NAPO prefers, we can have the debate at the NPP headquarters any day and in fact, if NAPO wants, we will have that debate in his bedroom and we hope he will not be afraid to show up for the debate,” he stated.
