Seven firefighters who were involved in an accident at Adankrono while en route to an emergency in Otwenkwanta, Eastern Region, have been discharged from the hospital.
On Sunday, July 21, the fire department received an emergency call at 08:37 hours reporting a fuel tanker that had veered off the road at Otwenkwanta, prompting the dispatch of the team.
However, while navigating a curve past the Gaso filling station, the fire engine was involved in an accident.
The firefighters were admitted to Akwatia St. Dominic Hospital and Kade Government Hospital for treatment, but have since been discharged.
Following their discharge, the Kade fire station personnel reported to Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for further medical examinations and treatment, as requested by the Eastern Regional Fire Service Commander, Chief Fire Officer, and Eastern Regional Director of Health.
At Eastern Regional Hospital, the personnel underwent X-rays, Head CT scans, and other investigations, after which four were detained for further treatment and investigations while three were treated and discharged.
Meanwhile, the fire engine involved in the accident has been towed to Kade Fire Station as police continue their investigations.
