Election 2024: Mahama not seeking support from Russian govt – Campaign Team

The Mahama Campaign Team has slammed Asaase Radio and Daily Guide for alleged false publication that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has been to Russia to seek assistance from the Russian government for the December Polls.

This follows a publication by Asaase Radio on Thursday, July 11, 2024, asserting that Mr Mahama has run to Russian authorities for support ahead of the 2024 elections under the guise of launching a Russian version of his autobiography entitled ‘My First Coup D’etat’.

However, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Spokesperson of Mahama, in a statement on Friday, July 12, 2024, dismissed the publication, describing it as a ‘shadowy and unethical journalism practice’ to defame the flagbearer.

According to her, the flagbearer was in Russia to launch the Russian language translation of his memoir, ‘My First Coup D’etat and Other Stories from the Lost Decades of Africa’ at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

The Campaign Team has urged Ghanaians to debunk the allegation as no such thing occurred during Mahama’s stay in Moscow.
