The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims of an ongoing recruitment exercise at the National Police Training School without a public announcement.
This comes after the Wa West MP cautioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare against what he describes as a selective and politically motivated recruitment into the Police Service.
Peter Toobu in his letter addressed to the IGP, stated that he has reliable information to the effect that the IGP is allocating slots to the political class of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a new way of recruitment into the Ghana Police Service.
However, the police service in a statement said these claims are untrue, and assured the public that any future recruitment exercise would be officially announced and conducted transparently.
“The Ghana Police Service has monitored comments attributed to the Hon. Member of Parliament for Wa West, Mr. Peter Toobu to the effect that there is an ongoing recruitment exercise at the National Police Training School without any public announcement of the exercise.
“We wish to state that the Police Service has not commenced any exercise of such nature.”
