Caralene Robinson, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer for Global Citizen has announced the return of Global Citizen to Ghana with the Move Afrika experience, aimed at driving job creation and economic development in the creative communities.
“We want to help facilitate job creation in areas like food, fashion, art, film, music, and podcasting,” Caralene explained in an interview on the Traffic Avenue show on Citi FM.
“We know there are many talented young people in Ghana who need opportunities to earn a living,” She added.
The event, which will take place in Accra later this year, promises to be an exciting one. While Caralene couldn’t confirm whether Kendrick Lamar would perform, she hinted that the show would be just as spectacular as the last one.
But Move Afrika is not just about the show. It’s about taking and making a positive impact on the ground in Ghana. Global Citizen has already made a significant impact in the country, driving over 1.2 million vaccines and supporting programs for gender equity.
“We want to continue to employ and hire locally,” Caralene said. “We want to support entrepreneurship training and create jobs for young people. We believe in the power of the youth to drive change. We have not hired anyone yet in the market, we are working with Kojo Poku from Big Ideaz Consult, scoping out vendors to work with for when we return back to Accra.”
The Move Afrika event is part of Global Citizen’s larger mission to end extreme poverty and drive impact around the world. With their proven track record in Ghana, expectations are high for this next event.
As Caralene said, “This is not a party. This is not an event. This is about driving impact on the ground in Ghana for the people of Ghana.”
