Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Finance Minister, has announced that irregularities reported by the Auditor-General between 2022 and 2023 decreased by 32%, resulting in savings of approximately GHS5.2 billion.
The Finance Minister disclosed this during his presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Review on July 23, 2024, in Parliament
“Mr Speaker, there has been a consistent reduction in irregularities reported by the Auditor-General since 2020. Between 2022 and 2023 irregularities reduced by 32% amounting to savings of about Ghs 5.2 billion cedis,” he revealed.
Dr. Amin Adam stated that the Auditor-General identified approximately 99.26% of irregularities in 2023, and noted that the Ministry of Finance is collaborating with the Internal Audit Agency, Internal Audit Units, and Audit Committees to recover the associated amounts.
“Also due to the policies, guidelines and the PFM measures implemented by MoF, about 99.26% of all irregularities identified in 2023 by the Auditor-General are recoverable. MoF is working with the Internal Audit Agency, Internal Audit Units and Audit Committees to recover these amounts,” he stated.
