Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor and other notable figures were recognized for their exceptional leadership at the maiden Ghana Downstream Awards.
This event held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the Pavilion of the Alisa Hotel celebrated individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the downstream petroleum industry in Ghana.
H.E Kufuor was specifically honored for his visionary and transformational leadership as well as his efforts in promoting the growth and development of Ghana’s oil and gas sector during his administration.
The former President has been credited with laying the groundwork for the country’s current successes in the energy sector.
The downstream awards and gala ceremony was to climax the Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHiPCON).

It aimed at celebrating outstanding achievements in the petroleum industry, acknowledging companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation.
Organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, the National Petroleum Authority in collaboration with the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC), it was also designed to promote compliance in the petroleum industry and recognize individual and institutional contributions towards the growth and sustainability of the industry.
