The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has released its report on the assessment of the performance of all MMDCEs under its jurisdiction.

According to the council, this performance report is intended to help the various MMDCEs improve on areas where they have fallen short in terms of development in their municipalities.

In the report, La-Nkwantanang-Madina and Ayawaso West were identified as the top-performing assemblies, while Ayawaso East and Ningo Prampram were named the worst-performing assemblies.

During his address at the inaugural Regional Coordinating Council meeting in Accra, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, explained that MMDCEs should study the report in order to enhance performance in their respective jurisdictions.

“We, at this office and RCC, are taking steps to disseminate these results and publish them on our website for the information of the general public. These exercises are aimed at ensuring that we adhere to the rules and procedures in terms of compliance and provide the necessary services we are expected to deliver.

“From the last monitoring exercise, the top-performing assemblies were La Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly at 98%, Ayawaso West Municipal, Ga East Municipal, Ga North Municipal, and Korle Klottey Municipal, all at 97%. On the other hand, the worst-performing assemblies included Ayawaso East Municipal and Ningo Prampram District Assembly, both at 78%, and Krowor Municipal Assembly at 77%,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Nii Kwartei Glover, urged all MMDCEs to focus on completing all existing projects and refrain from initiating new projects whose completion would extend beyond 2025.

“As much as possible, let us refrain from initiating new projects and instead concentrate on completing existing ones. Let us avoid starting projects that will extend beyond 2025.

“I understand that we are receiving new DACF and RFG work plans, but the costs of such projects under these funds can be absorbed and completed as long as contractors work diligently and submit their requests.”
