Let us, as dedicated patriots, remain focused— Sir John writes

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has attempted to distract Ghanaians’ attention from Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s recent unveiling last Tuesday. Fortunately, Dr Prempeh has flatly denied any disparagement of former President Dr Kwame Nkrumah or any other former president. This is a hot topic right now.

I encourage all patriots to work together to keep the NDC in opposition. There is little time to waste. This election is a significant challenge for the party, and we cannot afford to lose. President John Agyekum Kufuor’s words often come to mind, as he emphasised the importance of being a messenger in a ruling party rather than a chairman in an opposition party. The work must be completed on the ground.

Regardless of where we stand now, we must communicate directly with the electorate.

Our roles will be meaningless if the ruling party does not exist.

We are well aware of the opposition’s distraction tactics, as demonstrated by their actions against then candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2008. We simply cannot afford to provide them with that opportunity this year. President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia’s achievements speak for themselves, and we must campaign vigorously to keep the party in power. As party members, it is our responsibility to give our all and secure victory at all costs.

I urge all parliamentary candidates to go above and beyond to ensure enough votes for themselves and the president. We must not become complacent and use our past mistakes as a benchmark. Success is possible if we band together and work as hard as we did in 2016 to win.

Victory is within reach if we band together and work toward a common objective.

It is possible and the will of the Lord remains supreme.

By John Kwame Duodu (SIR JOHN)

NPP Constituency First Vice Chairman, Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency.
