The Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa for Meta, Sade Dada, has officially communicated to the Ministry of Information about the monetization of its expanded features for content creators in Ghana.

As part of the monetization, creators will also have the option to earn a share of revenue from Facebook’s in-stream ads, thus, when Meta places ads next to their content.

The app developer intends to roll out ads on reels which also seeks to earn a share of revenue for creators from ads it places on their reels on Facebook with further plans to expand its monetization features on Instagram later this year.

Content creators must pass and be compliant with the Meta Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies. These policies include deeper restrictions than the community standards on the content itself and the format of the presentation.

Advertisers are also required to follow Meta’s advertising standards designed to protect users from poor experience and support meaningful connections between people and businesses across its technologies.

The monetization of content in Ghana is to empower content creators to earn money locally from their online content and access advanced features to manage businesses online. The expansion of the monetization tools is a significant milestone that will help content creators in Ghana to leverage their online presence and build their brands.

On behalf of the Government, the Ministry commended Meta for this significant investment in Ghana’s digital future. We are set to facilitate further engagement between Meta and the New Media Association of Ghana to explore more opportunities.

The Ministry looks forward to continued collaboration to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana. We are optimistic that the expansion will create new opportunities for our talented creators and support the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.
