The presentation of the 2024 mid-year budget review to Parliament has been delayed over the absence of the minority caucus.

Channel One News’ Parliamentary correspondent, Nii Ayikwei Okine, reports that the Minority MPs are protesting the delay in the release of their common fund.

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Finance Minister, is expected to present the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament today, Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

The presentation aims to update the House on the implementation of the government’s 2024 Budget and also provide revised financial plans and an updated economic outlook for Ghana.

In a statement dated Monday, July 22, the Ministry said the review would provide an update on the implementation of the 2024 budget, with insights into the economic and fiscal performance for the first half of the year.

There would be an update on growth measures, revenue, expenditure performance, financing, and debt sustainability.

However, the minority members have expressed their discontent over the delay in the disbursement of the common fund, which they believe is crucial for the execution of their parliamentary duties and responsibilities.

But the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Paul Twum-Barimah, told Channel One News’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Nii Ayikwei Okine, that the minority members are in a caucus meeting and not boycotting the presentation by the Finance Minister.
