The E-block meant for a technical school located near the Community 22 military base is rotting away.
The four-storey classroom block project in Ashaiman was initiated under former President John Dramani Mahama as part of his 200 Community Day School building projects across the country, known as the E-blocks.
Residents of Ashaiman were among the intended beneficiaries of this initiative. Construction began in 2014 but was subsequently halted after 2016. Since then, contractors have not returned to the site.
The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman Ernest Norgbey, has expressed doubts about the government’s ability to complete an abandoned E-block that has been left to deteriorate.
He accused the government of deliberately abandoning this and other projects in his constituency.
Some residents have reported the intrusion of mentally ill persons into the uncompleted school block.
The four-storey structure has some of its blockwork completed, with windows and doors yet to be fitted.
Efforts by Channel One TV to get a response from the assembly regarding the project’s status proved futile.
However, engineers within the assembly suggest that completing the school soon is still possible.
