Road infrastructure across the country will be given a face-lift in the coming months as President Akufo-Addo is set to launch the District Road Improvement Programme, (DRIP) which will see all MMDAs across the country allocated earth-moving equipment like Caterpillars, Bulldozers and Concrete Mixers for road construction and other infrastructure works in their Assemblies.

The DRIP funded by the District Assembly Common Fund and donor partners will help address the many infrastructure challenges with the MMDAs.

A document cited by citinewsroom.com says the DRIP will help with the completion of road projects in MMDAs and other projects.

DRIP will also serve farmers in farming communities who lack agriculture equipment in their farming activities.

The expected benefit according to the document will include improved road infrastructure across the country which will enhance connectivity and transportation efficiency.

According to the document, it will help reduce travel time and transportation costs for many within the MMDAs.

DRIP per the document cited by citinewsroom.com will lead to the reduction of post-harvest losses for farmers by improving rural road networks.

In an engagement with journalists on Monday, July 30, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development said, the implementation of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) is a crucial initiative aimed at transforming road infrastructure in rural areas.

By equipping local authorities with the necessary tools and resources, the programme will foster sustainable development, improve connectivity, and enhance the quality
