The Union of Industry, Commerce, and Finance Workers (UNICOF) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC Ghana) has elected a new General Secretary, to steer its affairs for the next four years.
The fifth quadrennial conference, held at the Pentecost Convention Centre in the Central Region on July 13, 2024, spanned three days.
The conference also included the election of Ruth Osei-Asante as the National Women Committee Chairperson.
Other national officers elected at the conference were Mr. Maxwell Nyadedzor as Chairman, Robert Osei Mensah as the 1st Vice Chairman,
Faustina Adane as the 2nd Vice Chairperson, Godfred Agbevanu as the Deputy General Secretary, Roderick Ayeh as the 1st Trustee and Frederick Abbey as the 2nd Trustee.
The conference emphasized the union’s ongoing commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of its members.
With the election of the new officers, UNICOF aims to continue its mission of advocating for the rights and welfare of workers in the industry, commerce, and finance sectors.
The newly elected General Secretary Kofi Ohene-Obeng expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to work diligently to further the union’s goals.
He stressed the importance of solidarity and collective action in achieving the union’s objectives and improving the working conditions and livelihoods of its members.
As UNICOF moves forward with its new leadership, the union remains focused on building a robust and dynamic organization that can effectively represent and support its members in the current economic landscape.
According to the new leadership, the next four years promises to be a period of growth and advancement for the union.
