The Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has revealed that the government has invested approximately GH¢135 million in the National Identification Programme since January 2024.
He explained that this investment aims to accelerate the country’s digitalisation drive and expand its unique identification system.
“To advance our digitalisation drive and expand our unique identification system, we have invested about135 million Ghana Cedis in the National Identification Programme since January 2024,” he disclosed this during the Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament.
Dr Adam attributed this significant progress to an environment of enhanced and inclusive engagement with key stakeholders, fostering collaborative efforts and collective ownership
“Mr Speaker, this significant progress has been underpinned by an environment of enhanced and inclusive engagements with key stakeholders. These engagements have provided useful feedback, improved understanding and bolstered cooperation,” he stated
He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to prudent management of approved expenditures and enhanced revenue mobilisation, ensuring a balanced and sustainable fiscal framework.
“Mr Speaker, the stabilisation is real. We are determined to stay the course of our fiscal consolidation programme. Increased attention will continue to be given to prudent management of approved expenditures and improved revenue mobilisation,” he said.
