Citi FM/Channel One TV on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, honoured Malikeh Nornoo, a student of Southbridge Montessori School, with a prestigious excellence medal.
Citi FM/Channel One TV has been visiting various schools to present medals to the top ten contestants of The Literacy Challenge.
Among those honoured are Ama Boatemaa Asamoah and Oliver Kwakye Amoah from Jireh International School, and Felicia Adei Sedinam Neequaye from Christ the King International School, all recognised for their exceptional performances.
The grand finale, set for Saturday, August 17, 2024, will see these top ten contestants compete in a quiz competition, with the winner receiving GH¢10,000, bragging rights, and a trophy.
Addressing the school, Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, the Head of Programmes Production at Channel One TV and Citi FM stated “The test was difficult I must say but still we had a student from Southbridge Montessori School emerging as one of the top ten contestants.
“We want the top ten to understand that it takes a lot to come this far and they are all winners. So we are giving them the excellence medal for their hard work. And we want them to know that we are proud of them”.
The Headteacher of Southbridge International School expressing appreciation to Channel One TV and Citi FM for such an incredible and impactful initiative affirmed the school’s commitment to winning the competition come August 17, 2024.
He said, “This is a good initiative. At Southbridge, we prioritise things that will improve the literacy of our students. That is why I do not hesitate to allow my school to participate every year. I know Malikeh will bring the trophy home”.
Malikeh Nornoo, who is poised to win the Literacy Challenge 2024 expressed gratitude for her school’s support and stated that she is optimistic about winning the challenge.
“I am grateful to my teachers for guiding me. It has not been easy. I am trying my best and hoping that I win”.
