Angry PBC workers demand removal of management members

Disgruntled workers of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) of Ghana have called for the dismissal of the company’s management.

On Wednesday, August 7, the workers protested at the company’s headquarters to demand the payment of their one-year unpaid salaries.

A similar protest was organised by staff of the company in the Ashanti region on May 29, 2024.

In an interview with Citi News, Seth Adusei, the Vice Chairman of the Workers Union of PBC, urged state agencies to probe the company’s management concerning financial issues, and called on the government to dissolve the management board and expedite the process of paying their twelve-month outstanding salaries.

“From the year 2023 to the year 2024, we realised that funding was not coming. First and foremost, it started with our management. We were not getting answers. Then we called on our union leaders, they were also not coming forth.

“That was why we decided that let us do something about this issue. Not knowing that they were hiding something from us. The chief executive officer, the MD, the deputy chief executive officer in charge of operations, and the deputy chief executive in charge of finance and admin, are the executive management, we don’t need them, they can’t help us.”
