Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu, the disqualified NPP parliamentary aspirant in the Bimbilla constituency, has announced that he will not be contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.
Zaruk, who was disqualified from challenging the incumbent MP and Minister for Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, initially faced significant backlash from his supporters.
The disqualification led to unrest, with angry constituents, particularly the youth, vandalizing the party’s office in protest.
Despite calls from some supporters to run as an independent candidate, Zaruk, known locally as “Sokam Zaruk,” has decided against it.
After consulting with party elders and other opinion leaders, he declared that he has no intention of running independently.
Zaruk reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP and pledged his full support for the party’s ideals. He also addressed rumours that he had been offered money to refrain from going independent, firmly denying these allegations.
Expressing his gratitude to his supporters and the people of Bimbilla for their unwavering support, Zaruk wished them well and assured them that he remains committed to serving their interests in the future.
