The running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO says chiefs are instrumental in the development agenda of the country.
During his ongoing tour of the Ashanti Region, he acknowledged the significance of chiefs in facilitating infrastructure development by providing land for various projects.
His comment comes two days after the NPP launched its manifesto to make chiefs instrumental in the development of Ghana.
NAPO further explained that chiefs play a critical role in allocating land for development projects, including the construction of mosques, churches, schools, and hospitals.
He stressed, “I want to emphasise to our revered chiefs that their role is indispensable to Ghana’s existence and progress. The very fabric of our nation is woven together by their contributions.”
“Moreover, when it comes to developmental projects, it is the chiefs who hold the key, as they are the custodians of the land. Whether it’s the construction of mosques, churches, schools, or hospitals, their approval and allocation of land are essential.”
