The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has opened a book of condolence to honour the late veteran broadcaster, Godwin Avenorgbo, at the Ghana International Press Centre.
The book will be available for 10 days, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, allowing colleagues and the public to pay their respects.
The ceremony also saw a visit from Avenorgbo’s family to the GJA executives.
Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar and GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour were among the first to sign the book, reflecting on Avenorgbo’s significant contributions to journalism in Ghana.
Both praised his role in shaping media practice and his lasting influence on the profession.
Dwumfour highlighted Avenorgbo’s life as one of impact and legacy, while former GJA President, Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, noted his deep dedication to journalism and the GJA.
Until his death at age 78, Avenorgbo was the Communications Director for Melcom Group, Ghana’s largest retail chain, and served as the Chairman of the GJA’s 75th Anniversary Planning Committee.
